The officers detained in Orenburg two suspects in the illegal transportation of more than 4 thousand Central Asian tortoises, which are listed in the Red book of Russia.
“Earlier in one of the garages in Orenburg the police found more than 4 thousand turtles illegally imported from the Republic of Kazakhstan”, — stated in the message on the website of the Ministry of interior.
It is specified that in the course of operational search activities law enforcement officers detained on suspicion in Commission of crime the local resident and citizen of the Central Asian States.
The Ministry reported that on the given fact criminal case on signs of the crime under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Russian criminal code.
In June, Orenburg customs service prevented illegal import to Russia more than 4 thousand Central Asian tortoises from Kazakhstan, disguised as 7 tons of fresh cabbage.
