On Saturday morning, March 23, at the Odessa sea commercial port entered the ship of the French Navy minesweeper M653 Capricorne. This writes the Duma.

The ship entered the Black sea March 21. The purpose of the visit is to support bilateral cooperation in the naval sphere, and safety at sea.

The minesweeper will stay in Odessa till March 26. During the visit, planned exercises with ships of naval forces of Ukraine on the program of the PASSEX.

Capricorne in 2006 has already came into the Black sea. Then he attended the Bulgarian port of Varna and participated in international exercises in the composition of ships of the United States, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany and Israel.

The ship is classified as mine hunters class Eridan. Joined the French Navy in August 1987. Total displacement of 625 tons. Length 52 m, width 9, draught of 3.8 meters. The maximum speed on the diesel engine – 18 knots, patrolling the motors – 7 knots. The crew consists of 49 people (5 officers).

The minesweeper is equipped with two self-propelled underwater vehicles for the search and destruction of mines PAP-104 Мод4 and Bofors Double Eagle MK2. Artillery armament of 20 mm cannon Giat 20F2 and three machine guns. On Board there are also radar and sonar system.
