KIEV. March 15. UNN. The Maryland ship under the Liberian flag, which was EN route from Mariupol to Italy with a cargo of metal, 13 Mar ran aground in the Kerch Strait. It is reported by UNN with reference to TASS.
Attempts to remove the ship off the rocks with the help of four tugs was unsuccessful, said the press service of the Rosmorrechflot.
“The ship Maryland (flag of Liberia) with a displacement of 20 thousand tons were from 17 thousand tons of metal from Mariupol to Italy. On March 13 evening ran aground. The owner first sent to the vessel, two tugs, and then two more, but they have not yet emerged (to remove the ship off the rocks)”, — said the interlocutor in the Russian Department and added that attempts to remove the ship off the rocks will continue in the morning of March 15.
He noted that the ship the village on the edge of the Kerch-yenikalsky channel, when he passed the Strait of Kerch in a caravan with a pilot on Board.
The stranded ship does not interfere with navigation in the Kerch Strait, which is carried out in a regular mode.
The ship itself is not damaged, the threat to the environment and the crew there.
The Kerch-Yenikalsky channel is in the territorial waters of Ukraine. Before the occupation of Crimea by Russia channel was controlled and operated by Ukraine.
