Christians today celebrate forgiveness Sunday
KIEV. March 10. UNN. Today, March 10, Orthodox Christians celebrate forgiveness Sunday – the last day of pancake week and the last Sunday before lent, which lasts 48 days until Easter, reports UNN.
This day has long been a tradition to ask for forgiveness from family, relatives, friends, colleagues, consciously or unconsciously, if they ever may have offended and to forgive and to let go of all resentment.
Forgiveness Sunday, it is important to build relationships with people that are fighting. Thus, in the period of lent the man enters with a pure heart and thoughts.
On the evening of forgiveness Sunday commemorated the dead. In addition, at the end of the festival ceremonially burn an effigy of Maslenitsa.
Usually, Christians are turning to each other with the words “Forgive me” to which the Orthodox sincerely and from the heart say, “God will forgive and I forgive”.
