The mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov condemned those who criticized the satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky and in favor of the abolition of his concerts in the city. About it the mayor said during a staff meeting, reports Odessa Online.

He recalled that Zhvanetskiy – honorary citizen of Odessa and President of the worldwide club of Odessites.

“Mikhail Mikhailovich this year will celebrate its 85th anniversary and, of course, traditionally planned his concerts in March. But such semi-literate ignoramus decided that they will decide in the city of a million, what concerts should be carried out, and which are not. Who is the pride of Odessa. The name of the subtitles are embedded in the history of Odessa in such a way that it will never forget and will always respectfully respond. The names of these scoundrels – as no one knew nor remembered, and never will know. And I was very frustrating that such information generally appeared”, – Trukhanov declared.

The mayor of Odessa is sure that the cultural intelligentsia and all Odessans, without exception, understand and support Zhvanetskogo and thank him for his attitude and love for the city.

“Mikhail Mikhailovich, Odessa is waiting for You, we love You. Of course, waiting for You with new jokes, new stories. In Odessa You are always in our hearts there is and will be. So do not worry – Odessa with You,” said Turganov.

  • On 28 February, Russian President Putin presented the national artist of Ukraine, famous satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky, the Russian order “For merits before Fatherland”. It is noteworthy that in Russia, many netizens were furious with the awarding of Zhvanetsky, who has repeatedly declared his Pro-Ukrainian position.
  • Himself the satirist explained that he had received the order due to the fact that he was awarded for his stories about Odessa.
  • However, the activists of nationalist organizations did not agree with this position and demanded to reject the award. In particular, Sergey Sternenko called zhvanetskogo publicly renounce the order and appealed to the organizers that they have canceled in Odessa events with his participation, “or they will meet the protest of the indignant reaction of Ukrainians.”
