A senior European official was found guilty of rape
KIEV. 18 Feb. UNN. The Brussels court found the former head of the Directorate General of the European Commission for mobility and transport Margus Rahuoja guilty of rape. He was sentenced to four years in prison. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Estonian national broadcasting.
So, the victim in the case Rahuoja – female lawyer, who worked with him in the same institution, the newspaper writes, citing Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure. Thus, in the Belgian newspaper not contain the name of the convict, but referred to the initials M. R., exact title of the position, nationality and the fact that the man is 51 years old.
Earlier in 2015, wrote Eesti Ekspress, although at the time it was said that a senior official was suspected of stalking his colleagues, and was therefore launched an internal investigation, during which the service relationship with Rahway was suspended.
In court Rahway did not admit his guilt and stated that he did not use violence against the victim and that it was mutually voluntary sexual relations, the newspaper writes.
Mentioned that the events that led to the court took place in September 2015 the night in the premises of the European Commission.
According to the prosecution, the accused and his colleague who was younger than him by 20 years, were in the room together. The court made its decision based on the explanation of the victim, made phone calls and medical examination. In addition, one colleague who was in the office until midnight, confirmed that the young woman has repeatedly rejected attempts by her boss.
At the same time, the convict is going to appeal the verdict.
