The European Parliament on 31 January, recognizes Guido interim President of Venezuela

KIEV. 31 Jan. UNN. The European Parliament on Thursday, January 31, to approve the resolution on the recognition of the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Juan, Guido interim President of the South American country. This was announced on Wednesday, the Agency EFE with reference to its sources in the legislature, reports UNN.

According to the Agency, the resolution supported by the representatives of the European people’s party and the socialists.

The document is also expected to include a call to the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini and member countries of the EU to recognize Guido while in Venezuela will not be new presidential elections, “free and transparent”.

We will remind, crisis in Venezuela has inflamed with new force on 23 January when the leader of the opposition, President of the National Assembly Juan Guido declared himself acting President of the country. The US President Donald trump, almost immediately declared that the United States recognizes, Guido as the legitimate interim leader of the state. Later on the recognition of Guido temporary head of state said representatives of a number of other States, in particular Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador. To support Maduro are Russia, China, Mexico, Cuba, and Bolivia.

On 26 January the EU issued an ultimatum to Nicolas Maduro: Venezuela for eight days to declare the elections. Otherwise, these countries recognize the acting President Huang Guido.

After this, the Venezuelan authorities expressed regret at the fact that the countries of the European Union gave in to pressure from the United States that do not recognize the legitimate government of the Bolivarian Republic.
