The head of the National Assembly of Venezuela Juan Guido declared himself acting President of the country after a call by Vice-President Mike Pence.

According to the newspaper, Pence promised that US support of Guido if “he’ll catch the reins from Nicolas Maduro, referring to the clause in the Constitution of the South American country.”
Earlier, The Associated Press reported that Guido in December 2018 secretly traveled to Washington.
January 23, Guido during the opposition rally in Caracas declared himself acting President of Venezuela. Later, the United States urged Maduro to convey the power of Guido.
