Life to politics

By the standards of his political career, the speaker of Parliament of Venezuela Juan Guido very young – he was only 35 years old.

According to open sources, Guido was born and raised in a large family, his parents – a teacher and an airline pilot. The politician trained as an engineer, after graduation he underwent training at the George Washington University in the United States.

In 1999, the family of Guido suffered a tragic natural disaster – landslides in Vargas state. Disaster struck a densely populated coastal area of the country. As a result of the shift in the ground caused by heavy rainfall, killed tens of thousands of people. Landslides destroyed thousands of homes and buildings. Tens of thousands of people were displaced, and damage to the infrastructure of the country has exceeded 1.7 billion dollars.

The family of the future opposition in the tragedy became effectively homeless. According to the testimony of colleagues, Guido, the tragedy had a great influence on his political views, as the new at that time, the government of Hugo Chavez are unable to respond effectively to the disaster.

Political activity

During his studies, Juan Guido was an active member of the student political movement that actively protested against the government’s decision not to renew the broadcasting license of the independent television network RCTV. His group also protested against the policy of the government of Hugo Chavez.

In 2009, Guido became one of the founders of the party “Narodnaya Volya”.

In the parliamentary elections 2010, politician, was elected alternate Federal Deputy, and after the elections of 2015 has received the full mandate in the National Assembly. In 2018, Guido became the leader of the parliamentary opposition.

In the National Assembly, Guido investigated the corruption of the administration of Maduro. In 2017, he participated in protests and were injured from the rubber bullets of the police.

In December 2018, Guido was elected speaker of the Parliament of Venezuela. Future prospects
