Georgia recognized the head of the opposition interim President of Venezuela

KIEV. 24 Jan. UNN. Georgia recognized speaker of the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament) of Venezuela Juan, Guido acting President is the current head of state Nicolas Maduro. This was stated by foreign Minister of Georgia David Zalkaliani, reports UNN with reference also to the press-service of the foreign Ministry of Georgia.

“Georgia recognizes Juan, Guido interim President and welcomes the statements by the Venezuelan people in their struggle for freedom and democracy,” wrote Zalkaliani on Twitter.

“Georgia as a responsible member of the international community does not recognize the results of presidential elections in Venezuela may 20, 2018, which were held in an unequal, unfair and undemocratic situation. In this context, Georgia joins the international community’s call for the government of Venezuela to respect the rule of law and to recognize the mandate of the legally elected National Assembly”, — is spoken in the message published on the website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.

On Wednesday, Guido declared himself acting President of the country. The temporary head of the country’s policy already recognized by the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and the Organization of American States.
