Burning the ships in the Black sea involved in the illegal supply of gas to Syria – Minot

KIEV. 22 Jan. UNN. Vessel “Maestro” and “Kandy”, which for the carriage of liquefied natural gas caught fire in the Black sea, brought to the illegal supply of gas to Syria, starting in 2016. It is reported by UNN with reference to Minot, which offers information in accordance with the data of the Office of foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury Department (OFAC).

“According to the Office of foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury Department (OFAC), the court “Kandy” and “Maestro” are involved in the illegal supply of gas to Syria, starting in 2016″, — reported in the press center of the Ministry.

It is reported that the ships were not working AIS system, which allows not only to react to the accident ships and to help the victims, but also to monitor violations of traffic and illegal border crossing.

“According to the international monitoring system, the tanker “Kandy” left the Russian port of Temryuk January 20, but at the time of the accident the ship was not working AIS system (Automatic Identification System). The same was observed for the tanker “Maestro” — the last ship information recorded AIS 9 January 2019,” — said in the press centers of the Ministry.

“Such actions of foreign companies involved in Maritime transport to avoid liability on the part of the Ukrainian legislation, as well as the desire not to get on the list of the companies-infringers, and to apply international legal sanctions,” — said in Minot.

The Ministry said that it is difficult to establish the origin of the gas, which was transported, but according to available information, the ship “Kandy” and “Maestro” were involved in the supply of gas produced as with the Ukrainian continental shelf and from other countries.

The Ministry added that these vessels were formerly closed ports in the temporarily occupied Crimea and are the violators of the regime of the temporarily occupied territories.

Recall that in the Kerch Strait, a fire occurred on the two ships under the flag of Tanzania “Kandy” and “Maestro”. According to preliminary information, vessels under the flag of Tanzania was to “Temryuk” in Libya liquefied gas on Board. And in the area of the Kerch Strait, at 16 miles from shore, one of them exploded. To escape, people were jumping into the water.

The fire on the two ships in the Kerch Strait killed 11 people , 12 people saved.
