In Odessa region the first parish of the UOC-MP decided to go to the DNC

90% of the parishioners – for the transition to the Ukrainian Church / UNIAN Odessa region, the Orthodox community of the UOC-MP has adopted the decision on transition to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

As reports “Duma”, the decision of 7 January adopted the parishioners of St. Dimitry Church of S. Puzhaikove Baltic area.

“Parishioners expect of the decree of the Metropolitan of St. Epiphanius and the appointment of the priest in their parish. It is expected that this could happen as early as next week”, – the newspaper notes.

According to Victor magpies – local resident, the father of one of the Ukrainian prisoners of war sailors in support of the decision to move to the UOC already collected more than 300 signatures.

“90% of the parishioners – for the transition to the Ukrainian Church. We were visited by the Dean of the Moscow Patriarchate and told us that … we shouldn’t do that, but the people did not agree with his arguments,” – said Forty.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on December 15, 2018 in St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, held a unification Council, whose task was the creation of a national Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Cathedral invited all the bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

The UOC-MP did not support the Cathedral, and was attended by only two of the Metropolitan of the UOC-MP: the Metropolitan of Vinnitsa and Barsky Simeon and Metropolitan of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevsky Alexander. In the course of the Council elected Primate of the United Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanios. Archbishop yevstratii (Zoria) reported that Filaret was made an honorary Patriarch of the DNC. January 5, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed the Tomos of autocephaly, and on 6 January presented it in Istanbul, the head of the DNC, Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine to the Epiphany.
