The Kiev district court of Odessa has extended the timing of the arrests of two suspects in the assassination of the head of the local organization of the “Automaidan”, TV presenter Vitaly Ustimenko.

As reported the UNIAN in a press-service of the court, 11 January extended the period of detention of a suspect in the attempted murder Ustimenko.

“Having considered the petition of law enforcement officers, the judge granted it. Thus, suspects will be detained without possibility of bail for another 60 days,” – said the press service.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ustimenko often speaks out against the building of the coast, the historic center of Odessa and takes part in related protests.

In February 2018, he was attacked in the premises of the Solomenskiy district court of Kiev chose a measure of restraint to the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, who is suspected of misappropriation of property through abuse of position. Ustimenko were among activists opposed to the Trukhanov.

5 June in Odessa the criminals attacked Ustimenko, when he left the office of “Public television”. Ran up to him two men, was hit on the head, and when Volodya fell, wounded (presumably with a knife).

September 25, 2018, the Prosecutor of Odessa region Oleg Zhuchenko declared that militiamen detained two suspects in the attack on Ustimenko, one in the Donetsk region, another – in the Dnepropetrovsk region.

At the court hearing in Odessa on election of a preventive measure, a suspect of Dnipropetrovsk region, claimed that he and another detainee, the soldiers of the 54th mechanized brigade APU. Both defendants were placed in jail without the right of bail.

28 Sep Zhuchenko told reporters that one of those arrested is a deserter.
