“The United States is now not strong enough to gain a foothold in the Arctic, given the lack of icebreaking vessels. However, to make their presence they will try immediately and will later expand the base ships, which are fit to be in the Arctic. The first cause is the U.S. plan to expand its military presence around the world, from the Black sea to the Arctic. Wherever there is a potential benefit of countries that, according to the United States, confront them, be it Russia, China or anyone else, Washington will at least indicate their presence,” — said the expert.
According to him, the United States is “very concerned that Russia may soon start the commercial use of the Northern sea route”.
“This will entail serious economic damage from the point of view of logistics. In order to counter this, the US will mark the insecurity of this route. They will say that the use of the Northern sea route without their consent is a violation and they argue, will support this power plant, and, in their view, the use of complicated. Also the US is constantly trying to provoke Russia, to cause an inappropriate response. Any answer they will accept as proof of the threats themselves are the threat to interpret, define and discuss,” concluded Bruter.
Earlier, the Minister of naval forces of the United States announced plans in the coming months to send to the waters of the Arctic warship.
According to him, currently, the planning is at an early stage.
