Rahab al-Coonan escaped from Kuwait, where her family arrived for the weekend. She flew in to Bangkok airport and planned to take the flight to Australia, where he would seek political asylum. But it was not allowed on the flight and wanted to be deported back to Kuwait and then to Saudi Arabia. Then she barricaded herself in the hotel room at the airport, and recorded a video message in which he asked for asylum. About it writes Reuters.

18-year-old Rahab argues that, in the event of her return home, she will die. “They’ll kill me. My life is in danger. My family is ready to kill me over the most trivial things. I was not allowed to continue their education, to drive and to travel. I love life, want to work, but my family will not allow me to live life to the fullest. I just want to be free” – written by Rahab in his twitter.

The case of Rahab became interested in human rights organisations. The representative of Human Rights Watch Phil Robertson said the lawyers are now trying to prevent the deportation of the girl. The flight to Kuwait, which Saudi diplomats have tried to put Rahab, flew without it.

She still be in the hotel room. Rahab barricaded the door and says she’s not coming back. “I have nothing to lose,” – said the girl.

Recall that in Saudi Arabia decided to stop the practice of “secret divorce”: women will send SMS. However, despite some improvement in gender inequality in the country, Saudi women still do not have the right without the permission of a male guardian to do many things. In particular: to apply for a passport to go abroad, get married, open a Bank account, to do elective surgery to leave the prison.
