KIEV. January 6. UNN. According to the authorities, about 300 soldiers were sent to North-Eastern Brazilian city of Fortaleza to combat the growth of criminal violence. It is reported by UNN citing the local TV channel Globo and the BBC.

The soldiers will patrol there and throughout the state of ceará, to stop the attacks on shops, banks and buses.

The Ministry of justice ordered a special deployment after dozens of attacks this week. These attacks are a protest against the new, more stringent measures in local prisons, which are largely controlled by criminal groups.

Prison authorities in the state have blocked the signals of mobile phones in prisons and stop the policy of separating inmates belonging to gangs.

The deployment of troops takes place a few days after the inauguration of President Zaira Bolsonaro, who was elected with the promise to fight rampant crime in the country.
