Romania decided to complicate the process of construction of the gas pipeline Nord stream-2

Romania, starting 1 January six-month presidency in the EU Council decided to accelerate the work towards changing legislation, which complicated the construction of the Russian gas pipeline Nord stream-2. This writes Polskie Radio, citing diplomatic sources.

The offer of Bucharest, according to unofficial information, was supported by 13 EU countries. Amendments to the gas Directive was discussed in Brussels by the experts of 28 countries.

So far such actions have blocked the two countries holding the presidency of the Council of the European Union – Austria and Bulgaria, is spoken in the edition message.

Warsaw supported the Romanian proposal, which consists in the introduction of the obligation to negotiate the creation of new pipelines connecting the EU countries with other member States.

All gas routes, import and Maritime part of the territory of the European Union, should be subject to strict EU rules.

Brussels will check whether the new pipeline to the EU legislation.

“13 countries supported the text, recognized that it was the right direction, and called for acceleration of work”, – said the publication of one of the EU diplomats.

Earlier it was reported that the European Parliament called for the termination of the implementation of the Russian project of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”.

Also, the European Parliament stated that Ukraine plays a crucial role in the European energy network.
