UN: There is evidence for condemnation Assad for the crimes

The UN Commission on investigation of events in Syria gathered enough evidence to Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad was guilty of war crimes. This was stated by a member of the Commission, Carla del Ponte, according to Reuters.

Responding to a question about whether there is sufficient evidence to condemn Assad for war crimes, she said, “Yes, I’m sure the case is ready. That is why the situation is so frustrating. Despite this, no Prosecutor and no court.”

Syrian government denies reports of the Commission, which claims of widespread war crimes perpetrated by the state armed forces and security services of Syria.

Earlier, Carla del Ponte, said that he refused from the seats in the Commission out of frustration at the inability of the UN security Council to continue the work of the Commission through the creation of a special Tribunal for Syria.

On 22 July it was reportedthat the Assad regime continues to use chemical weapons against civilians in Syria.
