Ankara opposed the “privileged partnership” with the European Union. This was stated by the Minister of Turkey for EU Affairs ömer çelik was broadcast on Turkish TV channels, the Agency Anadolu.

“Any initiative for granting Turkey the status of “privileged partner”, will be rejected by Ankara. Nobody has the right to offer Turkey the status of a country’s “second class,” – said Celik.

He added that Turkey would take any such initiative as “immoral”.

“Turkey cannot be taken as a “refugee camp”, which need to cooperate in preventing irregular migration or as a “military headquarters” for appeals on the suppression of terrorism. Turkey should be seen as a state, ” said çelik.

We will remind, the President of France Emmanuel macron during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that at the moment there is no chance for progress in the accession process of Turkey to the European Union and instead offered Ankara a “privileged partnership” with the EU.
