The United States hosted the first test of the tiltrotor V-280 Valor, which will replace the famous Osprey

In the research center of the company Bell Helicopter in Amarillo was first tested at full power, the rotors for the new tiltrotor Bell V-280 Valor. Compared to the powertrain of its predecessor, the V-22 Osprey, here is the engine outside of the rotor nacelles, allowing a critical situation to rotate the propellers from only one motor.

The tiltrotor V-280 – the ideological successor to the V-22. Traditionally, the military asked for more speed, armor and capacity, what has been achieved by making almost all components made of composite materials. The fuselage, wings, empennage, everywhere use sandwich panels of coarse carbon elements with integrated armor. It is 30% lighter than the previous version.

The future tiltrotor can fly at a cruising speed of 520 km/h, with a maximum load of 5,400 kg to a range of 1480 km. to the maximum the characteristics are classified but it is known that the US army demanded that the aviation engineers doubling the speed and power reserve in comparison with the old Osprey. Another property of the new tiltrotor – the ability to hover in a helicopter at altitudes up to 1800 m.

Valor will be able to transport 14 people, plus two crew members. For quick landing there are two wide side doors. The heliplane has received a triple system of dubbing management that takes into account data such as the operational environment around you in order to start the car inadvertently there. The first flight of Valor can be held this fall.
