NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has backed the idea of introducing UN peacekeepers to the Donbas, initiated by Ukraine.

While the Russian proposal, he said, remains on the agenda.

“I welcomed the proposal to send UN peacekeepers to Ukraine, supported by the Ukraine. Also, the Russian proposal is “on the table””, – quotes NATO Secretary General Interfx-Ukraine.

His position, he stated after the meeting in the UN with the head of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov.

Note, at the same time, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after meeting with U.S. President Donald trump said that Washington supported the proposal of Kiev on the introduction of peacekeepers to the Donbass.

Recall, the Russian proposal to UN peacekeepers in the Donbas has multiple constraints: in contrast to the Ukrainian variant, Moscow insists peacekeepers were present only along the imaginary line of demarcation in the anti-terrorist operation zone, not throughout the Donbas, Russian troops occupied hybrid.
