South African President Jacob Zuma has resigned

The President of South Africa Jacob Zuma announced his resignation in a televised address to the nation. Reported by the BBC.

Members of the ruling party the “African national Congress” earlier gave him an ultimatum and given two days to resign. In case of refusal to leave office, the Executive Committee of the ruling party promised to try to withdraw Zuma from his post.

Jacob Zuma was President of South Africa since 2009. In early February, it was reported that his message to the nation postponed indefinitely amid accusations the President of corruption.

During the reign of Zuma in South Africa has regularly been high-profile corruption scandals. At the beginning of this presidential term, he was accused that he had been enriched during the construction of a personal residence, squandered over half a million dollars from the budget. Then he dodged impeachment, as he has supported the country’s Parliament.
