The SPD urgently needs a personnel upgrade

Martin Schulz on the evening of 13 February announced his resignation as Chairman of the Social democratic party of Germany. He said this to journalists after a meeting of the party leadership in Berlin, reports UKRINFORM.

“I’m resigning as chair immediately,” said Schultz, who headed the party for almost a year.

He noted that he liked to do this work. However, the SPD urgently needs a personnel upgrade, the politician said and expressed hope that its decision will contribute to putting an end to the debates about personalities within the party and finally begin the formation of the government.

Schulz called signed with the Christian bloc coalition agreement is good, stressing that “social Democrats” achieved during the negotiations of success and 70% of the document reflect the policies of the social Democrats.

The next Chairman of the SPD will, most likely, Andrew Niles, her candidacy made himself Schultz. The decision will be made at the extraordinary Congress on April 22.
