Almost half of Russian citizens (45%) approve of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact on the division of Eastern Europe.

This is evidenced by the data of the survey “Levada-center”, reports ZN,UA.

Condemn the Covenant, 17% Russian, and 38% said “don’t know anything about it” or were undecided.

Heard about the secret protocols of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and assured that they were indeed, 40% of Russian citizens, another 17% have heard, but I think that it was a fake.

The rest either did not hear or were undecided.

The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, more commonly known in Europe as the Hitler-Stalin Pact was signed August 24, 1939. On 1 September Hitler’s army invaded Poland from the West, and on September 17 Stalin’s army from the East.

In may, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact “was meaning”.

Merkel said that the Pact “was signed in a wrongful manner, but, of course, the Second world war was initiated by national socialist Germany”.

The survey was conducted from 18 to 22 August 2017 on a representative nationwide sample of urban and rural population among 1600 people aged 18 years and older in 137 localities of the 48 regions of the country.

The statistical error in the sample of 1600 people (with probability 0.95) does not exceed: 3.4 per cent for indicators close to 50%; 2.9% for indicators close to 25% / 75%; 2.0% for indicators close to 10% / 90%; 1.5% for indicators close to 5% / 95%.
