NATO denied the resumption of contacts with Russia in the military sphere

NATO denied that the Alliance resumed contacts with Russia in the military sphere. On it informs Agency UNIAN.

“No “restoration” of military communications, as it has not been stopped”, – explained the words of the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the headquarters of NATO.

NATO’s policy of defence and dialogue regarding Russia remains unchanged, said the headquarters.

Yesterday at a press conference, Stoltenberg said: “I would like to note that after a long period without the use of communications on the military side, now these channels have been used, both the head of the Military Committee and the commander of the NATO forces in Europe are looking to how they can ensure that these lines functioned and worked.” The Secretary General also reported that both the military had direct contact with the chief of the General staff of the Russian armed forces Gerasimov.

On 6 December, the representative of Ukraine Vadim pristayko expressed concern about the intensification of contacts between NATO and Russia on the background of its military aggression against Ukraine. So diplomat commented on the words of Stoltenberg.

Pristayko noted that in recent years there have been six meetings of the Council Russia-the NATO (at the ambassadorial level), you also restore contacts at the highest military level. “This cannot but worry the Ukrainian side”, – he concluded.
