Iran has increased funding for the missile program because of U.S. sanctions

The unicameral Iranian Parliament on Sunday, August 13, approved the allocation of an additional $520 million (440 million euros) to further the development of its missile program and to Fund an elite military unit composed entirely of the country – the Islamic revolution guards Corps (IRGC). This was announced by the Chairman of the Majlis Ali Ardashir Larijani. About it reports Deutsche Welle.

According to Larijani, this measure was a response to the new sanctions, which on 28 July, endorsed the U.S. Treasury after the launch of Tehran booster.

“The Americans should know that this is just the first step on our side,” he said, describing Washington’s actions in the region as “terrorist and risky.”

Iran, on 27 July announced the implementation of a test booster for the withdrawal of a satellite into space. Type rocket “Simorg” can put into orbit satellites weighing up to 250 kg. the US condemned the test, calling it a provocation and a violation of UN security Council resolutions.

The next day, July 28, the U.S. Treasury has extended financial sanctions against six Iranian companies, which, according to Washington, support the missile program.
