Hitherto Dynamo Kiev have not had problems with the Greek clubs in the competition to departure.

Two opponents or two confident “removal”. Moreover, after that, they were highly up – reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions Cup.

In the group harder, but still nothing. Suffice it to recall the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League, in which the people of Kiev, starting with the away defeat against Panathinaikos and lost points in the next two matches, took, when we don’t have right for mistake, revenge of the Athenians, gathered a full harvest of “Arsenal” and “lance” and got to the semi-finals.

Yes, one encounter stands out. And that won Panathinaikos in September 1995. This victory in history was not included – due to suspension. Love chide Kiev events of the month detractors, rarely remembering that by the spring of next year, the club was completely rehabilitated, and even more so – about what happened in Donetsk a month later…

The first European rendezvous of the Greeks – in the fall of 1975 in the 1/16 finals or as they say “they” in the first stage. “Dynamo” with the rank of won the Cup winners Cup was just ready to fight with Bayern – technically the best team in Europe. The matches against Olympiakos and wedged right between those games in Munich on September 9 and in Kiev 6 October.

The super bowl, I think, was more important. Moreover, the Greeks have not managed to establish itself European men. Although, if you think about it, Panathinaikos relatively recently, in 1971, played in the final of the Champions Cup with the “Exam”.

The first game in Thessaloniki, as “Karaiskaki stadium”, the home stadium of Olympiakos, UEFA disqualified. Had not yet been invented to punish for the sins of some of the other fans, through playing matches in an empty stadium.

Pets Valery Lobanovsky’s wards immediately stunned the English coach Vic Bakingema. 30 minutes – 2:0 in favor of the guests. Scored twice captain Dynamo Viktor Kolotov. The first goal in the counterattack, the second after a corner, submitted by Vladimir Veremeev.

The hosts, however, quickly played a ball, and in the middle of the second half Azinu from a free-kick from 30 metres equalized. Yevhen Rudakov allowed Frank “butterfly”.

2:2 – not a bad result away from home, but the Greeks went to Kiev to win. Made nervous, and get nervous was only after Vladimir Onishchenko with the transfer of Oleg Blokhin scored, and appeared in the meeting only. The Greeks still tried to go forward a large force, but was getting was smashing counter-attacks “Dynamo”.

The score has not changed, and Kiev passed on. Beating at the next stage the Icelandic “Akranes”, was released in the spring of the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup. Alas, there after the victory in Simferopol over the “Saint Etienne” and a great chance at the end of normal time the away game with the score 2:0 in favor of the opponents, was blown away in extra – 0:3.

After a year again the Greeks. Around the “Dynamo” already and not close to its former aura. The team discord that led to the departure of Oleg Bazilevich. In Kiev the championship after five rounds with three points in the penultimate place. However, a couple of victories against FK Partizan with 3:0 and 2:0 is allowed to recover in the domestic and international arenas. So before games with PAOK absolute favorite used to be considered the team of Lobanovsky.

Just before the game with the club from Thessaloniki to Kiev beat confidently leading the championship of Moscow “torpedo” – 3:2. Conducted – 3:0, but stopped. In the match with the Greeks such liberties yourself is not allowed, and after two goals Leonid Buryak in the first half of the first half, didn’t think to dump momentum.

At the break after goals Kolotova left, winning with 3:0. After one hour his trademark goal was scored by Peter Slobodian. In Thessaloniki you can go without fear.

There on the slippery field “Tables” unstable equilibrium lasted until the end of time, when the scales in favor of the Greek could incline Kudas entitled to a penalty. But Rudakov, as in the previous away match against Partizan, shot with a “point” taken.

After the break, the absolute masters of the situation was a Dynamo. Kolotov scored, successfully playing on the rebound, after hitting left-back Victor Matvienko. Then a goal-handsome scored by Blokhin. Had only do not lubricate the end of the domestic championship, where after an interesting away draw against FC Karpaty Lviv Dynamo did not look like the favorite in the dispute over some of the coin.

All right: winning three of the last match, soared to second place. Along the way (with the help of the Moscow teams together conceded outsiders), sent to the first League of the Moscow “Spartak”.

“Dynamo” broke the group stage of the Champions League, having beaten in qualifying Aalborg. The group was not difficult. Start with Panathinaikos, then – “Nantes and “Port”. Alas, the victory over the Greeks was the only match of that tournament. Suspicion the Spanish referee Antonio Jesus Lopez Nieto was enough that Kiev withdrew from the race.

The Spaniard wanted “gifts”. Not received – upholstered. Although sued at the stadium honestly. In the middle of the second half, the people of Kiev managed to crack the defense of “PAO”. Yuriy Kalitvintsev was thrown into the breach Vitaly Kosovo – and left midfielder “Dynamo”, to get away from the defender, had treacherously shot from a tight angle in the middle. The goalkeeper was not ready for it.

Alas, nothing more was not…

A chance to avenge Rebrov, Shevchenko and Co. have received in three years. Once again, the Champions League and Panathinaikos at the start. By the way, it was not easy to get there. The Dynamo, without the past problems in qualifying, “Barry the town”, were in the play-off round of the Prague minutes from departure. However, an unfortunate own goal by Peter Gabriel in the 90th minute turned the game into overtime.

Again and again the people of Kiev were in a group on the brink. Although lost only once – “Panathinaikos” in the opening match. They had a great start, but logical proof of the advantages of Kiev at the stadium “Nikos Goumas” was the goal by Serhiy Rebrov. Going one on one with Andicom striker easily swept the Greeks the Polish goalkeeper and rolled the ball into the goal.

But after the break Dynamo wilted, and the Greeks turned the case in their favor, winning – 2:1. Then a home draw with “lance” and the wonderful care from defeat in the match at Wembley against Arsenal – two at 1:1. The defeat in London left no chance. Obtained the draw required victories in the remaining three matches. Panathinaikos was the second on the line…

The beginning of the match, which was 90 minutes spent on the field, the current coach of “Dynamo” Alexander Khatskevich and Oleg Luzhny, – for the Greeks, and at the break the team went with the score 1:0 in their favor. However, in the second half, Kiev began to play.

On 72 minutes, Rebrov with the transfer of Valentin Belkevich scored. And in the 80th happened fatal to the guests corner – Vocals interrupting the discount head Andrew Savenko, punched directly in Bussines and flicked the ball into the net. Get the required 2:1.

After that, “Dinamo” beat out “the lance”, it’s “real” and focused only on Bayern…
