Culture and trade bodies: Ukraine signed the Convention of the EU

The Minister of justice Pavel Petrenko during a working visit to Strasbourg on behalf of Ukraine signed two conventions of the Council of Europe, the press service of the Cabinet.

Signed the Convention on cultural property and the Convention against trafficking in human organs.

Petrenko held a meeting with the head of the Directorate General of human rights and legal Affairs Council of Europe, Christos Giakoumopoulos, head of Department of execution of the decision of the ECHR Genevieve Mayer and head of Department of the information society Patrick Pennington.

As reported, a key theme of the meeting was Ukrainian prisoners held in Russia and Crimea.

Also in the framework of the round table discussed the reform of the judicial system in Ukraine, the role of the ECHR in the development of the Ukrainian legal system and so on.

8 September, President Petro Poroshenko introduced the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on ratification of protocols No. 15 and No. 16 to the Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
