The reason for this was a series of commercials published by an Italian company at the end of last week. In them the Chinese model is trying to eat spaghetti, pizza, and cannoli with sticks, reports kommersant.
The videos have caused outrage in China and became the most discussed topic on the social network Weibo. Chinese citizens found the advertisement racist and sexist. As a result, the company was forced to cancel their show in Shanghai, scheduled for this Wednesday.
The situation was compounded by the racist comments that appeared on the pages of the official account D&G and Stefano Gabbana. The company said that both accounts had been hacked and apologized to Chinese users.
